Today's newspaper bears news of high gas prices, increasing electric bills and possible tax hikes. Three separate articles on the same day. That's not good news for residents of Central Florida. And it certainly makes it harder to sell Orlando as a site for corporate relocation or expansion. We used to be able to tout our low cost-of-living (low taxes, housing, etc.) Not so anymore. Maybe that's the reason for our slow economic growth, which also was reported today in the Orlando Sentinel. Consumer-based economies depend on consumption. It's hard for consumers to consume when more and more money is needed for gas, electric bills, housing, taxes, etc.
When's it going to end?
